Article: Desperados reopens sans liquor license

"We've completely remodeled everything - new ceilings, new carpeting, new everything," said Ken Kunz, a spokesman for Desperados. The popular nightclub at 145 Regal St. reopened Friday despite the apparent lack of a valid liquor license.

The problems with the liquor license bad been all but settled 90 days ago when the owner, George Rosenfeld, and attorneys for the state agreed that the bar would close and the owner would pay a $22,500 fine and apply for a new license. About 10 days ago, radio stations around Billings began running advertisements announcing Desperados' grand reopening.

But the state on Thursday denied the application for the liquor license.
