Company offers `cosmetically elegant) version of sunscreen by turning thick paste into fine particles
Wainscott, N.Y. -- Among sunscreen agents, only zinc oxide protects against the full ultraviolet spectrum. Salicylates and cinnamates protect against WB radiation, and avobenzone absorbs WA exposure, but only zinc oxide blocks both WB and WA radiation.
Despite a stellar safety and efficacy record, zinc oxide has not been widely used by the general public because of its availability only as a thick paste. Lifeguards and small children are the only ones ever seen wearing it.
