Article: BC congregation breaks away (St Alban's Anglican Church in Port Alberni)

PORT ALBERNI, B.C.--Calling the Anglican church a "crumbling institution," the congregation of St. Alban's Anglican Church in this pulp mill town on Vancouver Island's west coast has voted to call it quits and start its own community church.

The vote to "disaffiliate" was approved by a margin of 120 to 15 at a special meeting on Jan. 10. Following the meeting, the church rector, Rev. John Cox, issued an eight-page statement outlining reasons for the congregation's action.
