BRUCETON MILLS -- Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) officials announced their choice of Preston County as the site for a new federal prison facility at a June 3 press conference.
The site, known as the "Bliss-Fike site," is near the town of Bruceton Mills.
Six West Virginia sites and two Pennsylvania sites were under consideration for the new facility.
The proposed facility will house approximately 1,120 medium security inmates, or 1,000 high security inmates and 150-300 minimum security inmates in ancillary facilities, depending upon which type of facility is ultimately chosen for construction. No decision has been made on which type of facility will be built.
