Lexington, KY-In celebration of Earth Day 1999, Lexmark International announced the printer industry's only broadly available remanufactured toner cartridge program by an original equipment manufacturer, aimed at its family of Optra S laser printers. According to Lexmark's general manager of worldwide supplies marketing, Betsy Lang, the company's remanufactured cartridge program has been made possible by a dramatic increase in the return rate of Lexmark Optra S series cartridges. This increased return rate is driven by a special pricing program that offers Lexmark customers an upfront discount if they agree to return their used cartridges, thus reducing the number that end up in landfills.
