Article: Beware! Stats in NFL Europe are not what they seem

At one point or another this summer, one-third of NFL teams were rumored to be interested in signing Lawrence Phillips, the controversial running back who dominated NFL Europe. There was talk ling Phillips to the 49ers, Bills, Packers, Ravens, Chiefs, Redskins, Raiders, Bengals, Browns and Panthers.

But most of the teams that were interested in Phillips bailed out as quickly as a herd of antelopes that picked up the scent of a lion. Many other teams, some in dire need of a running back, never gave Phillips a second thought. In fact, some teams made it clear they would prefer to go to war with 10 men on offense than to invite Phillips into their fox hole.
