BLUEFIELD - A McDowell County development project that was stalled briefly while scientists searched for an endangered bat species got the go-ahead July 9, and work is proceeding along as projected.
"They set collection nets on the property that's the site of a planned industrial park," Elden Green said. Green is president of the Welchbased Greentree Consulting. Co., a business that specializes in mine reclamation and engineering services. "They caught 36 bats that first night. The good news is that none of them were the endangered Indiana bats."
