Last year was one of the best years in the history of the Italian paper industry. Production volumes reached a record 8.2 million tons. But industry turnover at Lira 11,450 billion ($6.12 billion) was still below 1995 levels. The main difference between 1998 and 1995 can be found in the raw material costs.
