By the end of 1998, three major projects had been wrapped up in the Chilean pulp and paper industry. Arauco finished rebuilding its number one pulp line to produce pulp from eucalyptus fiber instead of radiata pine. The company is exporting the new output to Asian and European countries. Production capacity stands at 270,000 tons/yr. CMPC also completed a pulp modernization project at its Santa F6 mill. The company replaced some of the equipment at the mill and increased production capacity.
The Chilean newsprint producer, Inforsa, completed an upgrade of its two paper machines. The company is also part of the CMPC group. The modernization project was finished in December 1998 and ...
