The family of the late Joseph B. Banks, who owned and operated Pocono Downs in Plains Township, Luzerne County, plans to retain ownership of other Luzerne County holdings following the sale of the harness racing track to Penn National Gaming.
The Banks' properties include Odyssey Fitness Center in Wilkes-Barre; Roller King, a roller-skating rink in Kingston; and the Joseph Banks Construction Co. in Wilkes-Barre.
It will be "business as usual" for these operations once the $47 million sale of Pocono Downs to Penn National is completed, according to Jennifer Banks, Banks' daughter and spokesperson for Pocono Downs.
