Article: 339 sexual harassment charges filed with state EEOC in 14-month period

Acting to stop legal action before it starts, many Mississippi companies are sending clear messages to employees that sexual harassment will not be tolerated in the workplace.

Still, the federal agency charged with investigating such complaints says cases of sexual harassment account for about 10% of its workload in Mississippi, a figure that does not include the estimated thousands of cases that go unreported for fear of job loss, demotion or other forms of retaliation.
