Article: Gift lifts Alberta Bair Theater free of debt

With a spring in their steps and smiles of appreciation on their faces, the board of directors of the Alberta Bair Theater announced Monday they are debt-free.

The good news comes after nearly two years of debt incurred through lavish bookings and a number of physical repairs on the 1931 movie house, restored as a performing arts palace in 1986.

The belated Santa Claus present came from Wendy's of Montana, and the Sam E. McDonald Jr. family, which presented the ABT with $50,000 Monday, eliminating the theater's debt and boosting the hopes of the board for a successful "in-the-black" 1998.
