Salt Lake Design Center project taking shape on city's west side

After parting ways with their first architect due to creative differences, members of the Salt Lake Design Center LLC are back on track with a new architectural -- firm, a builder and financing nearly in place for a 56,000 square foot design center at 741 So. 400 W., Salt Lake City.

The $2.8 million wholesale home furnishings showroom will be centered around the old Utah Pickle Building, currently home to HMT Furniture Inc. Michael Picardi, president of HMT Furniture, is a member of Salt Lake Design Center LLC, as is Troy Schmittroth.
