Key studies show proper pharmaceutical use reduces total costs and increases satisfaction

Migraines affect more than 23 million Americans and exact a toll of more than $5 billion in lost productivity annually, says the National Consumers League, but it still has not reached the radar screen of managed care organizations. However, if a few pharmacoeconomic studies on migraine therapy are indicative of the savings and better outcomes accrued from the appropriate use of drug therapy, then MCOs should pay closer attention.
