Article: Nasal spray form for allergic rhinitis

The FDA has approved a nasal spray formulation of budesonide for the management of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis in patients aged 6 years or older. This corticosteroid was previously approved for this indication in a metered-dose inhaler formulation.

Approval of the new formulation was based on placebo-controlled trials in 141 subjects aged 6 to 12 years and 1,385 subjects aged 12 or older with seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis.
