Integrated Protein Technologies (IPT), a unit of Monsanto Company, has developed and is commercializing the use of transgenic plants as effective production systems to manufacture therapeutic monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) and other therapeutic proteins for the biotechnology and biopharmaceutical communities. IPT's technology enables the GMP production of safe, pure, and potent drugs and has demonstrated that plants can yield proteins with purity and activity equivalent to those produced by other accepted manufacturing systems.
