Measure recognizing American Muslims blocked in Congress
This week, Arab American Institute President Dr. James J. Zogby sent a letter to members of the House Judiciary Committee decrying their failure to release for a vote H.Con.Res. 174. After more than one year of work, the U.S. House of Representatives was poised to pass this resolution acknowledging the significant contributions of America's 5 million Muslims. By passing the resolution, Congress would have taken the lead in condemning anti-Muslim intolerance and in pledging to uphold a level of political discourse that does not scapegoat or stereotype Islam or its adherents.
