WASHINGTON -- American imams gathered last weekend in Washington to learn how to better interact with the US government, politicians, the media and deal with current issues involving the American Muslim community.
The three-day American Muslim Council Leadership Conference drew over 200 imams and principals and administrators of Islamic schools nationwide.
"The importance of our conference was to underscore the fact that if someone wants to speak to the American Muslim community, or any Muslim community, the imam is the main, effective and most trusted channel," Abdulrahman Al-Amoudi, president of the American Muslim Council said.
