Community Unity Card an effort to boost Black businesses
The Christmas and Kwanzaa holidays mean an influx of money for retail businesses. One local organization is urging people to spend their money in the Black community instead of mainstream department stores.
Oluwashegun Amen-Ra of The Greater Pittsburgh African-American Economic Planning Coalition, said the Community Unity Card is an effort to boost the economy within the Black community.
Shoppers using the Unity Card will receive special discounts on goods and services from participating Blackowned-and-operated businesses.
