Hill District to get Shop 'N Save in '99

Next year, residents in the Hill District will have a grocery store right in their own backyard.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded a $350,000 grant to the Hill District Development Corp. to build the store in the Hill District.
As early as January 1999, construction will begin on a new Shop 'N Save grocery store. It will be located at 1860 Centre Ave., across the street from the Hill House Association.
Elbert Hatley, director of the Hill District Community Development Corp., said the store will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and will help circulate money in the community.
