Hardie in four-way race for upper North Side City Council seat
Because the Republican Party did not field any candidates for Pittsburgh City Council District 1, whoever wins the primary election most probably will be the victor come November, unless a strong independent candidate emerges.
Malcom Hardie, 41, is the only African-American in the four-way race. He wants "to help the North Side stand out as a community that accepts diverse ideas that move us forward."
Hardie expects his major competition to come from former city school board director Barbara Burns, who agrees with him that abandoned properties are the North Side's primary concern.
