San Diego will never be the same after Classic: Grambling wins Gold Coast Classic

SAN DIEGO--Nothing rivals a Black college football game classic! And San Diego got just that for the second time in its history.

Gerri Warren along with title host, The U.S. Postal Service, once again brought the Gold Coast Classic to "America's finest city." San Diego said, "Thank you, Gerri."

This was a nostalgic appearance for Grambling's Head Coach Doug Williams. Williams, the only Black quarterback to win a Super Bowl, led the Washington Redskins to a Super bowl victory over the Denver Broncos, 42-10, in San Diego in 1986.
