This Legislative Session Was Step In Wrong Direction.

The legislative session of 1995-96 has come to a close. Last night, in a flurry of activity, the state General Assembly cleaned off its legislative plate before dissolving in favor of the 1997-98 edition, whose members will be sworn in on Jan. 7.

In terms of pure numerical accomplishments, this past legislative session would seem to have been a very productive one. A special session on crime resulted in 37 new laws for Pennsylvania, as well as an amendment to its constitution allowing for videotaped testimony by minors. Another special session dealt with the damage caused by this past winter's flooding across the state.
