In 1968 the University of California at Berkeley offered Black Panther Eldridge Cleaver the opportunity to teach an experimental course on racism. Then Governor Ronald Reagan, who chaired the board of regents of the university, was furious: "If Eldridge Cleaver is allowed to teach our children, they may come home one night and slit our throats." Sixteen years later, Eldridge Cleaver was actively supporting the reelection of Ronald Reagan as President of the United States.
