News and Views: The Importance of the Educational Attainment of African-American Mothers
One of the best predictors of a student's score on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is the level of education held by the youth's parents. Parents who are college educated and have been through the SAT testing experience themselves are in a position to offer valuable advice on preparation and test-taking strategies. College-educated parents are more likely than parents who did not go to college to have books and other educational resources in the home.
