News and Views: More Bad News on Black Graduation Rates.

Nationwide the black graduation rate for college students may be lower than is commonly reported. Also, blacks who do graduate are taking far longer than whites to earn their degree.

Each year JBHE prepares an extensive analysis of the graduation rates of black and white college students. The latest figures show that nationwide 37 percent of all black freshmen who entered college in the years 1986 to 1989 went on to earn a diploma within six years.
