News and Views: Duke Gets a Much Needed Boost in Faculty Diversity.
Duke University has traveled a rocky road in its efforts to achieve faculty diversity. Finally after many years of setbacks, Duke has something to cheer about.
Duke University is properly proud to be the academic home of John Hope Franklin, a distinguished American historian and probably the most revered black scholar in the United States. It has also been the home of the noted scholar of black religion Eric Lincoln. But as to its current ability to recruit and hold black faculty, Duke has had little success.
