RECENT DECADES HAVE SEEN AN increasing flood of books, movies and plays on the Holocaust, a number of which merit attention, understandably so, for the subject treated rather than for the stylistic presentation.

The double treat comes when the two mesh. Happily, this is the case with the world premiere of "Hannah and Martin," by Kate Fodor, currently playing at TimeLine Theatre in Chicago.

In a masterful, gripping, and intense production, "Hannah and Martin" deftly portrays the complex physical, emotional and intellectual relationship between a German Jew (Hannah Arendt) and a German philosopher and one-time Nazi Party member (Martin Heidegger), her mentor and teacher.
