RAPID CITY, S.D. - How many coalbed methane wells are too many? If they're in culturally sensitive areas, they all are - as far as the Lakota are concerned. At a meeting held by the Bureau of Land Management to accept public comment for its Draft Environmental Impact Statement for Caolbed Methane Development in Wyoming's Powder River Basin, Cheyenne River Sioux tribal spokesman Gene Blue Arm reminded the Bureau that American Indians inhabited the Powder River Basin area long before coal became a commodity there.
