With an assertive "commitment to do active outreach to the Native community in 2003 and 2004," the innovative film production funding source ITVS (the Independent Television Service) is coming to a community near you. In the business of facilitating documentary filmmaking in "underserved segments of the American population," ITVS has a mission to "cover native issues...but we want to do it with intelligence and sensitivity" says Claire Aguilar, Director of Programming, "I'd like Indians to know that there are people who want to help them depict their lives in an authentic way and to help them not be invisible in the media."
