THE RECOMMENDED DAILY allowance for dietary protein intake in a healthy adult is based on the individual's ideal body weight (i.e. 0.8 gram per kilogram of ideal body weight.) However, a high protein diet plan, allows unlimited protein and fat with little or no carbohydrate. This diet plan has gained wide-spread popularity among those seeking to shed unwanted pounds, and although there has been reported success, one should be cognizant of the fact that there are health risks associated with a high protein diet, particularly if it becomes a long term eating pattern.
