Article: Caribbean Week in NY; Spectacular display of talent, diversity kicks off activities

THE CARIBBEAN Tourism Organization (CTO) launched Caribbean Week 2003 on Sunday with an exciting display of the region's diverse spiritual and cultural heritage.

Some 600 dignitaries, tourism officials, religious and cultural leaders and members of the Caribbean diaspora filled the St. George's Episcopal Church in East New York for an interfaith celebration dubbed "Lets Give Thanks."

Billed as a celebration of Caribbean life and times, the service was an energetic exhibition of dance, poetry, singing and music by a number of Caribbean-American performers spanning several generations.
