"When cancer happens, it happens to the whole family." This statement was made by comedian Gilda Radner, who fought and lost her fight against ovarian cancer in 1989, but in the midst of her tribulations found the support and comfort that she needed and wanted from The Wellness Community, a facility that offered cancer patients numerous services in an effort to make tough times easier.

Radner's experiences at The Wellness Community inspired the formation of Gilda's Club South Florida, which has been providing social and emotional support to men, women and children, along with their families and friends since 1994.
