Representative Matt Meadows (D-Fort Lauderdale), joined members of the House Public Safety Appropriations Committee and staff from the Department of Juvenile Justice to visit six of the local juvenile justice programs on Tuesday. The members spent several hours visiting juvenile justice centers and meeting at-risk students.
"I am especially concerned about how these budget cuts may affect prevention and intervention programs in Broward County like PACE, Spectrum House, and Children in Need of Services and Families in Need of Services. These are the programs that we need to keep in order to prevent kids from becoming permanent fixtures in the prison system," said Rep. Meadows.
