When I was 17, I baked a Mile-High Chocolate Cake for my mother's birthday. Instead of a tower of chocolate power like the photograph in the recipe book, I ended up with a one-inch high, shameful rendition. Knowing the ingredients were of good quality, I frosted it, decorated it, and declared it Chocolate Dream Torte. Mom loved it.
