Article: Concern for the Key West Botanical Garden

I have a deep concern about the direction the Botanical Garden Society board has taken in its management of the Key West Botanical Garden during the past several years.

Before I delve into these concerns, I would like to relate a brief history of the botanical garden and my involvement in the society.

In the 1930s, the Federal Emergency Relief Administration established 55 acres of Stock Island as the botanical gardens. Including hardwood hammocks and three fresh water ponds, it was to become a natural showcase for tourists.
