A recent food trend aimed at soothing hectic boomers across the country saw the resurgence of homestyle comfort food. Humble dishes such as meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, and pot roast gained new popularity in the hands of talented chefs nationwide. Some offerings remained true to "just like your Mom used to make" style, and others got twisted with exotic ingredients and updated techniques. Locally this trend has been visible at restaurants like Berryhill & Co. and The Dish. But before America caught on, there were places like Brick Oven Bistro that have made comfort food their specialty and continue to do so in spite of the trend's wax and wane.
