Atlanta, Idaho, is nestled against the Sawtooth National Wilderness. The Middle Fork of the Boise River runs right through the town. Gold was struck in 1863 and a boom began. At the time Rocky Bar and Atlanta were deeply intertwined with a glittering golden future. Rocky Bar is now a ghost town 15 miles southwest of Atlanta and worth the discovery.
Another hidden treasure in Atlanta is Kerry Moosman. Moosman was kind enough to take us on a guided tour of the history of Atlanta.
