Article: SHADES OF SOUL; The guts and genius of Blanche-Laura France

Blanche-Laura sifts through old photos and prints with deep focus and manicured fingers. Her accent is thickly charming, and her platinum hair, pinstripe suit and red shirt that reads: "Mais, je reve...!" (but, I dream) suggest European roots and straight fabulousness. Adjusting smoky Chanel glasses, she invites me to share in her incredible story--again. Having interviewed her months ago, I already know Blanche is a survivor, but even since December she has recaptured more of her former self and a striking mixture of styles that defy category, not to mention description. Today we talk less about tragedy and more about the beautiful struggle of living, a journey in words and works of art.
