I don't know why it is that spiders give me the creeps, but having just smashed one on the wall last night, I'm amazed that such a small creature can still cause a heightened pulse rate after all these years. Few critters can rival spiders in their ability to cause instant terror. Perhaps it's their quick movements or their vampire-like way of eating. Let's face it, who'd want to sit down to dinner with a fanged creature who sports a chamber-of-horrors method of eating?
