The printing ink industry faced a myriad of changes in 1999, including major consolidations and alliances, higher raw material and other operating costs, and continued growth of some sectors at the expense of others. As the market consolidates, competition for market share in the worldwide $12 billion printing ink industry will continue to be strong. Most company officials expect more mergers and acquisitions and higher costs in 2000 and beyond.
