It has now been two years since the administration of President George W. Bush shut down several major American Muslim charities on the nebulous grounds of "financing terrorism." In December 2001, during the height of the Ramadan charitable giving season-and following a now infamous White House visit by hard-line Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon-Bush first shut down the largest American Muslim charity, the Holy Land Foundation for Re lief and Development (HLF).
