Arch Coal Inc.'s Ruffner Mine in Logan County won West Virginia's top mine reclamation award for 2003.

The West Virginia Coal Association and the state Department of Environmental Protection sponsor the annual reclamation award program. Mining operations have to be nominated by a state inspector to be eligible for an award.

Green Mountain Co. Inc. was recognized for its National Mine Complex Project in Monongalia. County Pineville Paving Inc. won for its Skin Poplar Refuse Project in Boone County.

Eastern Arrow Inc. won for its Ned's Branch Impoundment Emergency Project in Mingo County. Argus Energy WV LLC won for an innovative haul road design along Parker Branch of Kiah Creek in Wayne ...
