Danville, Pa. - Hand dermatitis can be difficult to diagnose and treat, according to Christen M. Mowad, M.D., assistant professor, department of dermatology, Geisinger Medical Center, Pennsylvania State College of Medicine.
"Hand dermatitis" is a generic term for a rash on the hand, and these rashes have many possible causes. It might be caused by a contact dermatitis that can be either irritant or allergic in nature. "Irritant contact dermatitis is obviously much more common than allergic contact dermatitis," said Dr. Mowad, who will be discussing approaches to treating hand dermatitis at the American Academy of Dermatology meeting in Washington D.C. Feb. 6-11.
