Article: NorthWestern Energy rejects contract offer

HELENA - NorthWestern Energy has rejected an initial twoyear contact extension from the union that represents its employees who work on the utility electricity lines and natural gas pipelines.

Local 44 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers proposed extending the current threeyear labor contract, which ends April 30, by two years, with annual wage increases of 3 percent each year, according to the newsletter on its Web site, www.ibew44.org. The newsletter said the union presented the offer to NorthWestern management on Jan. 12 after previously discussing it with the utility's upper-level management, local union leadership and the IBEW negotiating team.
