To Sidney Poitier, with love: A `Life' award
We can think of few, if anyone, who deserves it more. Mark March 12 down as a red-letter day for Hollywood -- and for the charming, talented and artistic actor Sidney Poitier -- the only African American to ever win a Best Actor Oscar. He will be bestowed with the Screen Actor's Guild's highest honor, the Life Achievement Award, at the Shrine Exposition Center on Sunday in Los Angeles.
