Durbin kicks off National Infant Immunization Week
U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) kicked off National Infant Immunization Week by announcing two federal bills aimed at increasing funding for immunizations and requiring health plans to cover all immunizations for children.
"How can our society rationalize failing to fund known medical problems with known medical solutions such as immunizations," Durbin said at the Chicago area immunization campaign's annual meeting.
He said about 1 million children are still not adequately immunized and that these "pockets of undeserved children still leave us vulnerable to deadly disease outbreaks."
