TRICARE eligibility for family members of National Guard and Reserve members begins the day the sponsor receives notice of activation to military service on federal orders for more than 30 days. Retired Reservists qualify for TRICARE at age 60 and they have completed the request for retirement pay. At age 65, retirees are covered by Medicare and TRICARE for Life.
