Breastfeeding Education/Satisfaction -- A Literature Review
Breastfeeding is more common for mothers with higher levels of education and from higher socioeconomic strata (Bernard-Bonnin et al. 1989). Ryan, Wydsong, Martinez and Simon (1990) also found, in addition to the influence of education and socioeconomic status, that women who work outside the home and have previous children are more likely to feed infants only breast milk. However, Kearney and Cronenwett (1991) found that employment prior to two months postpartum exerted some negative effects on breastfeeding outcomes. Black, et al.
