Teaching Breastfeeding as a Public Commitment
The current global literature is reflecting an emerging view of breastfeeding as a public health choice for countries. The evidence continues to mount supporting the importance of breastfeeding to the infant, mother and community as a whole. The World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA), and La Leche League have endorsed programs to promote, protect and support breastfeeding as a natural resource.
